Base Hits: 2/26/2007

Kurt Birkins, James Hoey and Brian Burres have officially arrived as major leaguers; they had they "likenesses scanned" for inclusion in upcoming MLB video games.

Not that this should be a shock to anybody but there isn't much doing "down on the farm" in terms of hitting. The minor league system is getting better but it will be years before it starts to bear ample fruit.

Usually, I'm not a fan of expanding the running game but with two very good and, more importantly, very smart basestealers like Brian Roberts and Corey Patterson on your team, I'm all for it. So is Sam Perlozzo it seems.

J.R. House took grounders at third on Saturday and has played a little first and outfield according to the Washington Post. If House shows some versatility, he has a much better shot at pushing Paul Bako out of the way as the backup catcher.
